He is a very serious and battle-scarred man who only wants to protect his village, but at the same time wants to protect his son more. Kazuki is loyal, trustworthy, and honorable.

History: The Early Years
Kazuki was born and raised in Konoha and attended the academy like everyone else and graduated at the age of 12 like most ninja. He was placed on a team with two other boys: an Uchiha named Kazemaru with an already activated Sharingan and a medical ninja in training named Shun. Their sensei was a woman named Yoko who was a genjutsu specialist. Kazuki himself was a Lightning-user who had a tendency to disagree with his teammates and sensei. The three Genin passed the Chuunin exam as soon as they were able to take it. Unfortunately, Yoko died on one of their missions shortly after. Kazuki was especially upset because he had felt closest to her out of any of his teammates.

From that point on, Kazuki would try to act as a martyr, trying to save his comrades at the risk of his own life when they were in danger. Unfortunately, this caused him to fight more with his teammates, especially Shun. Kazemaru did his best to break up the fighting but eventually gave up on numerous occasions. A year later when they were all 13, Kazemaru passed the Jounin test and became the leader of their 3-man team. The team went on high ranked missions together. When Shun and Kazemaru got into heated arguments, Kazemaru would usually step up and break the two of them up.

Dangerous Encounter
On one of their most important missions, they had to travel to Rice country because there was said to be some suspicious behavior there. When they arrived, they found the Hidden Village of Sound and were captured by Sound ninja led by Orochimaru. Kazemaru had a fully matured Sharingan as well as mastery of the Hiton element (Flight) as well as Fire and Wind techniques separately. Using his flight element, Kazemaru was able to bring him and his team to safety. Kazuki insisted that Kazemaru teach him flight techniques. The team retaliated and managed to defeat many of Orochimaru's subordinates. Shun was especially targeted for his medical abilities, but Kazuki went right to Orochimaru and started fighting. This was all for nothing because Orochimaru was much stronger than Kazuki. The battle raged on with everyone else watching. Orochimaru clearly had the upper hand and was slaughtering Kazuki while Kazuki was barely able to do any damage. As Orochimaru was about to give the final blow and kill Kazuki, Shun got in the way to take the hit and died in the process. Kazuki was on the ground crying for the loss of his teammate who he regretted arguing with so much. Orochimaru, however was still ready to kill Kazuki, but Kazemaru stopped him, having awoken his Mangekyou Sharingan due to the stress. After placing Orochimaru and his subordinates in a minor genjutsu, Kazemaru used his flight to escape and bring himself and Kazuki back to Konoha to report to the Hokage what had happened.

It was night time upon their arrival at the Konoha gates. Kazemaru and Kazuki entered the village and headed for the Hokage's office, only to be greeted by Itachi and Madara (this was the same night as the Uchiha Slaughter). They both attacked Kazemaru as part of their plan to wipe out the entire clan, but Kazuki defended Kazemaru and stopped the attack, but then got trapped in Madara's Tsukiyomi and fainted. Madara knew about the situation with Orochimaru but decided to wipe Kazuki's memory and replace it with a memory of there being no activity in the Sound and having Kazemaru and Shun being killed by Madara and Itachi. It is unknown if Kazemaru escaped or was killed, but he was presumed dead either way. Kazuki woke up in the hospital the next morning remembering the memory given to him by Madara. He mourned the loss of his comrades.

Training in the Cloud
Kazuki passed the Jounin test at age 15. After going on high-ranked missions, he was considered to join the ANBU, but the Hokage decided it was a better idea if he would go train with Lightning users in the Hidden Cloud Village. Kazuki agreed with the Hokage's idea and he left for the Cloud. He trained for 4 years until he was 19. His training in lightning techniques was near completion when Hawk attacked and captured Kirabi (Killer Bee). Kirabi had taught Kazuki for a time about using taijutsu and swords and had given a katana to Kazuki. Kirabi's capture had destroyed Kazuki and Kazuki felt like everyone close to him had died and now Kirabi would most likely die. Kazuki finally got over his sadness and instead fell into a state of rage. Without warning, Kazuki left the Hidden Cloud to find the Akatsuki because he knew that Kirabi had the 8-tails and knew that Akatsuki's goal was to capture the tailed beasts.

Wind, Light, and Flight
After a year of training on his own at various remote locations, Kazuki decided that Lightning wasn't enough to defeat foes as powerful as the Akatsuki. So he decided to try and figure out if he had a minor affinity for a second element. He returned to the Hidden Cloud to ask for guidance from the Raikage. He told him about the chakra paper and told him to put a large amount of chakra into it. Because Kazuki was a Lightning user first, the paper would only crunch. When Kazuki put in more chakra, he would be able to clearly see what his second element was. The crunched paper split in half so Kazuki was a secondary wind user. The Raikage recommended that Kazuki go to the Hidden Sand because there were many Wind users there. After 7 years of training at the Hidden Sand, Kazuki was a talented Wind user in addition to his already expert skills in Lightning. At the end of those 7 years, Kazuki merged the two elements together to make Light (Toton) element. He quickly made some Light techniques which he started to train in as well. He also tried to use Wind alone to mimic Kazemaru's Flight techniques he had seen all those years ago. After the 7 years, he returned to Konoha to settle down.

The Beginning
He was greeted kindly because various missions he had done during his training had gained him some fame. Unfortunately, he was put right back into the ninja loop and started missions again. He was 27 and was going to take on a team of Genin for himself. Before he took on his team, he fell in love, got married, and had a child (Hoshimaru) four years later. He was excused from taking on a Genin team and instead worked for the Hokage.

After doing some research he had come across a file on the now deceased Orochimaru. After reading through it, his memory came back to him about the truth about what happened with Shun and Kazemaru that day. He read something about Orochimaru's Cursed Seal and spent a long time trying to create one himself in secret to be used as a defense mechanism. After many months of work, Kazuki had created the Thunderbolt Seal and gave himself the seal. After this, he decided to go on missions again for a couple of years and became very famous in a short amount of time for his skill and power with Lightning, Wind, and Light chakra.

Tragedy struck when an assassin had come to his house with the mission to kill him. Kazuki was at the Hokage's office with his latest debriefing, so he had come home later and walked in right when the assassin killed his wife. Kazuki became enraged and his seal activated giving him a power boost. He killed the assassin with powerful lightning attacks and then reported the incident to the Hokage. From that point on, Kazuki retired from missions and spent his time taking care of Hoshimaru. He felt that every time he went on a mission, one of his loved ones died, so he spent all his time making sure his son was safe. At the same time, he wanted to stay involved in the ninja world, so he trained his son to be as strong as he was. Finally, Kazuki gave Hoshimaru a weakened version of the Thunderbolt Seal so that if there was ever a time he would not be able to protect his son, he would be there in spirit in the form of the Thunderbolt seal.

Kazuki had to leave the village for a few weeks to deal with some business having to do with a personal ally of his in Kirigakure. The encounter had forced him to use his Thunderbolt Seal for the first time in years. The thrill and danger of battle had seduced him; Kazuki was ready to fight once again. After returning home, he found that his son had passed the chuunin exams and showed his pride by teaching him about the bloodline ability to make light techniques. Unfortunately, he could not teach Hoshimaru much because he noticed Hoshimaru's chakra was different from his own and not fully matured yet, so after teachning him one or two Light techniques, there was nothing for him to do.

Instead, Kazuki thought that taking a genin team would be a better way to train the ninja leaders of tomorrow. After a change of wardrobe and acquiring a new look, Kazuki came out of retirement and registered himself to take on a genin team.
